Ricoh awarded Gold rating by EcoVadis for its sustainability practices
TOKYO, March 23, 2021 – Ricoh Company, Ltd. has been awarded a Gold rating in the sustainability survey conducted by EcoVadis. This recognition places Ricoh amongst the top 5% of companies assessed in its industry in terms of sustainability performance.
EcoVadis assesses suppliers from over 160 countries and across 200 business sectors on corporate policies, initiatives and achievements in four key areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Since receiving the first Gold rating in 2014, Ricoh has consistently retained its Gold rating in the survey.
Ricoh practices environmental management and develops sustainable procurement activities in collaboration with suppliers. In 2019, Ricoh became the first Japanese company to participate in the Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG) initiative to tackle inequality in workplaces and supply chains. It has also joined the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), which promotes social responsibility in global supply chains. As a result, Ricoh received high praise especially in the areas of “Environment” and “Sustainable Procurement” in this survey.
The Ricoh Group has identified seven priority issues (also known as material issues), aligned to 12 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Group aims to resolve these issues through its business activities in order to realize a sustainable society that balances economic, social, and global environmental issues. Ricoh will contribute to achieving the SDGs by solving social issues in the entire value chain through business and realizing a sustainable society.
